Burnaby South Secondary
Three years ago, Burnaby South had just finished its renovation, which meant that large amounts of construction ended up in the school yards. To transform the land, the South Green Team dug up all of the waste, and made the plots into beautiful edible gardens.
The success of the school gardens inspired GYC's creation, for we hope that other students will have the same opportunity to be a part of the movement towards urban sustainability.
Fair Haven United Church Nursing Home
In the past summer, we have piloted a garden in the Special Care Unit of Fair Haven, hoping to create an inter-generational bonding by bringing youth and the seniors together through gardening--an activity that many residents are familiar with and enjoy.
